Advocating for Children & Youth

Who We Are

The Yukon Child and Youth Advocate Office (YCAO) is dedicated to upholding the rights and amplifying the voices of children and youth. We support young people involved with government services and work to create positive change through advocacy, education, and systemic review.

What is an Advocate?

An advocate supports children and youth by standing beside them and making sure their rights, interests, and perspectives are heard in decisions that affect their well-being.

Mandate

As an independent office of the Legislative Assembly, we support children and youth involved with government services.

Mission

We commit to upholding the rights and amplifying the voices of children and youth throughout the Yukon.

Vision

A safe and healthy society that hears, includes, values, and protects the rights and voices of children and youth.

Values

Our work is guided by respect, integrity, empowerment, and hope, values that shape how we connect with and support children and youth.

Our Team

Our team advocates for the rights of children and youth, offering support and guidance. We help them understand their rights and ensure their voices are heard and respected.
