Child & Youth Advocate Act
We are engaging with youth and communities to inform updates to the Child & Youth Advocate Act.
Why is the CYAA being reviewed?
-
The Act came into force in 2009 and is currently ten years overdue for review.
-
Many sections of the legislation are outdated and require updating.
-
YCAO has continued to engage with youth, First Nations governments, service providers and families
We then provide an updated submission to the Members’ Services Board, all-party committee of the Legislative Assembly responsible for reviewing the Act.
Themes of the Review:
Guiding Principles & Definitions
Public Reporting
Information Sharing
Child Death Reviews
Lawyers for Children & Youth
Communicating Children's Rights
